Asbestos Sampling & Analysis FAQs
Q: How do you test a material for asbestos?
A: A trained specialist takes a small sample of the material. They then look at it under a microscope in a certified laboratory to see if asbestos is present.
Q: Can I sample asbestos myself?
A: It is not recommended. Disturbing asbestos can release dangerous fibres into the air. It is much safer to hire a professional to take the sample safely.
Q: How long do asbestos testing results take?
A: Standard laboratory testing usually takes 24 to 48 hours. Emergency or same-day testing is also available if you need fast results.
Q: What building materials usually contain asbestos?
A: Asbestos was often mixed into ceiling tiles, floor tiles, pipe insulation, textured coatings (like Artex), and roofing sheets.
